What equipment do you use?
We use a range of equipment depending on our requirements and the package you have selected for your day. All of our cameras are stunning full high-definition and produce beautiful images. We also have drones which can be utilised in any of our packages for a small extra fee. Please contact us to find out more about using drones to capture beautiful extra footage of your big day.

How do you best capture our day without getting in the way?
Our default approach is to treat your day like an observational documentary and film everything in a non-obtrusive manner. You shouldn’t even notice we are there! The best results are usually obtained when the subjects don’t even realise they are being filmed. We capture whatever happens as it happens. As you can see from our films, there are posed shots. These are usually obtained at the same time as the photographs and add a beautiful element to the films. But of course, our films are tailor-made to suit you so we will discuss our approach prior to the big day.
-
How many filmmakers do you use and who are they?
This depends on the booking you make, but we highly recommend two or more filmmakers shoot your big day. This allows us to capture the sufficient amount of footage required to produce a beautiful wedding film. All of the example films on our website were shot by two or more filmmakers. Lee and Ryan will shoot your day but if you wish to include additional filmmakers, we use trusted and experienced colleagues.
-
Is there an estimate on the length of the finished video?
This can vary from wedding to wedding but on average a full wedding film will be around 60-90 minutes, Highlights films around 3-5 minutes and Trailers for social networks around 1 minute.
-
How much do you usually shoot and what happens to unused footage?
From the moment we arrive until the moment we leave we are shooting. You can never have too much footage when entering the editing room! For a fee we can provide every single piece of footage that we’ve shot throughout the day onto an external hard drive which is then yours to keep and browse through at your leisure. Once you receive your film we will keep all of the footage for 14 days before we delete it after confirming you are happy with everything first of course.
-
How long does it take to edit and can changes be made?
We guarantee your finished video within two months of the ceremony. We offer a Priority Edit option as an extra that means you’re guaranteed your finished video within two weeks of the ceremony.
-
What about a photographer?
We only deal with moving images but we do have several photographers we’ve gotten to know over the years that are based all over the country. Just drop us a message and we’d be happy to recommend someone who’d work with us perfectly on your big day.
-
How and when do I pay?
Once we’ve talked over your plans for the day and you’ve settled on a package a deposit of 20% of the full amount is required to guarantee and secure your booking on the required date. This is non-refundable. After that you can pay however you like in as many instalments as you like but the full amount must be received no later than 14 days before the date of the ceremony. However, please contact us if you would like to make adjustments or additions. Deposits paid are non refundable but if a booking is cancelled everything other than the deposit owed to you will be paid back. In the very unlikely event that we are required to cancel a booking due to staffing issues, dangerous driving conditions, acts of God, camera operator illness, equipment malfunction or any other unforeseen situations, you will be entitled to a full refund of all monies paid.

Do you charge for travel and do you only film in the UK?
To provide you with a competitive and fair price we do not charge for any travel or accommodation costs incurred to cover your day taking place within the UK. All our prices are inclusive of everything. We’re more than happy to shoot destination weddings. There is nowhere we won’t film in the UK or abroad. We do provide rough estimates of prices to cover events abroad but we urge you to get in contact if your event is outside the UK as we can work out a precise cost to cover your day in another country. We usually keep our prices for destination weddings the same if you can provide flights and a hotel, please get in touch to discuss this further.
-
What other types of event do you cover?
If you think it deserves to be filmed then we cover it! Events range from all types of weddings, civil partnerships and multi faith days to Honeymoons, Bar Mitzvahs Graduation Balls, Birthday Parties, Christenings, Corporate events, music videos, films and much more. Get in touch to find out how we can help you out. You can also check out our Film and Televison work at www.obscurefilms.co.uk

What about food and drink breaks for camera operators?
If we can be included into your catering plans then this is greatly appreciated. It may seem cheeky, but for the vast majority of services it is impractical for our camera operator(s) to leave site in order to get food (mainly because we may miss filming something really important). Most wedding caterers will not charge extra to feed the crew so if possible please arrange this. If you are unable to cater for our operators, please bear in mind they will need regular breaks which may require leaving site for an extended period.
-
Do we meet up or discuss the day in person prior to filming?
We’re always more than happy to meet up and discuss your big day over a coffee or tea. It’s usually best to have our pre-wedding meeting 2-3 weeks prior to the wedding, the closer the better really as its nice to keep the rapport we build up from the meeting and take that into the wedding so you feel more at ease. We always try to arrange a face-to-face meeting but sometimes due to logistics this may not be possible. In this instance we can have the next best thing…a Skype chat, or we can speak on the phone. The main aim is to get to know each other and to obtain all the info we need so we’re fully prepared for the big day. We are also more than happy to meet before any booking is made.
